1902 Philippine Model revolver manufactured by Colt. The 1902 Philippine is essentially a Model 1878 with an enlarged trigger and trigger guard as well as several other features that was issued to U.S. troops during the Filipino Insurrection, due to the then .38 Caliber revolvers not providing enough firepower against Filipino combatants. The right side of the frame is marked "J.T.T." above the grip, "1902" above the trigger guard and "U.S." just below the cylinder, with the left side bearing an "R.A.C." inspectors stamp on the trigger guard and the Rampant Colt logo on the frame. Top of barrel bears Colt's single line address with the left side being marked ".45 Colt". Frame is mounted with 2-piece Colt plastic grips. Frame, cylinder, and loading gate are matching. CONDITION: Metal components show areas of wear and thinning as well as a few scattered areas of oxidation all around. Bore is bright, showing some pitting and retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips show some smoothing and scattered handling marks but are otherwise fine. MLW
