Typical markings on the heel of the receiver. British proofs on the right side of the barrel with tonnage markings as well. Left side of the stock has a boxed "S.A./J.L.G." stamp followed by a crossed cannons ordnance cartouche. Early style gas plug. No import mark found. All parts look to be Springfield production. Blade front sight with standard adjustable rear. Arsenal reparkerized post-World War II. Gas tube has a black enamel finish. Stock and hand guards were lacquered at some point. Trapdoor metal butt plate. Combination tool in the butt stock, and attached undated green canvas sling. Includes an "AFH" marked bayonet and scabbard. "U (flaming bomb) S" marked on the ricasso. The front of the scabbard is marked "U.S." inside a flaming bomb. CONDITION: Metal retains 90% of its arsenal reapplied finish with general wear and handling marks. There is a spot of surface rust on the left side of the receiver. Front sight blade has been painted red. Butt plate has some light surface rust. Wood has minor handling marks and scratches. There is a few splotches of paint on the stock as well. Bore is frosted but does retain good overall rifling. Throat erosion is at 1, muzzle erosion at 1. Mechanically fine. Sling and combination tool are very good. Bayonet has light light wear, with a few nicks in the blade. Some light surface rust on the handle. scabbard is fine with some light discoloration.
