Spencer Model 1865 carbine made by The Spencer Repeating Rifle Company, Boston, Massachusetts. 20" round barrel chambered in .56-52 Spencer Rimfire with carbine ladder rear sight, and blade front. Two piece plain walnut stock and forearm with military style buttplate. Stock bears ESA (Erskine S. Allen) inspector cartouche near wrist. CONDITION: Very good, with most of the original bluing remaining on barrel with brown patina beginning to form over top of it. Frame has turned a dull gray with scattered age related pitting throughout. Breechblock assembly is a modern replacement. Stock and forearm are very good with stock being lightly sanded and finish added with handling marks throughout. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand. Bore is dark with visible rifling. TON
