Kentucky halfstock percussion rifle made in Fort Recovery, Ohio circa 1858 by J.P. Vantrees. Gun has unique rear sight made and marked "S.E. TOBIAS" who was another Ohio gunsmith in Xenia, Ohio. 34" octagon 40 caliber rifled barrel with hunting sights both possibly made by Tobias. Percussion back action G. Golcher lock with double set triggers. Curly maple half stock with brass hardware and pewter neck collar and hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: Overall good with metal turning a dark patina plum. And wood has nice striped finish with some light dings. Dark shootable bore with good mechanics. DLM
