The horn measures about 11 - 3/4" across the bow. The 3 - 1/2" spout section has been replaced. The body of the horn is engraved "Morgin Brustor's Horn, Jan. 16, 1779". Morgan Brewster was born in Rome, New York in 1762. According to ancestry records, he was a fifer in the Continental army. He died in Leeds, Massachusetts at age 93 in 1856. Other depictions on the horn include a long cityscape of townhouses above 14 drilling grenadiers with mitre caps and bayoneted muskets. There is also a snake, 3 fish, a "hex" sign star, a man hanging from the gallows labelled "Tory", a church, large cartouche with "MB", a turkey, a man with a flintlock musket fishing, and other designs. The horn has a convex wooden plug. CONDITION: The spout section of 3 - 1/2" has been replaced. The main body retains a pleasing dark honey patina. A very nice identified Revolutionary War powder horn. DMG
