Nicknamed the "Record Player" due to its distinctive pan magazine, the DP-28 light machine gun (and its variants) served with the Red Army from 1928 until the 1960s, where it was gradually supplemented and eventually phased out of service by the RPD and PK family of light machine guns. This example, having at one point its receiver cut, was welded back together and was activated as a machine gun by Krinks. The rear of the receiver has been scrubbed, no longer retaining its original arsenal stamp and date code, and is now stamped "DP/ CD1780/ KRINKS, NAPLES, FL." behind the rear sight. Otherwise, this example is mostly devoid of any arsenal proofs, with the exception of a few small proofs. Features include a 20" barrel, ventilated barrel shroud, flash suppressor, hooded post front sight, tangent rear sight, folding bipod, as well as a wood buttstock. Receiver is blued, with the remainder of components retaining a smooth gray finish. Stock has been sanded and retains a snug fit. Pan magazine is not present. Manufacturer block is listed as "MAHONEY, PAUL DBA KRINKS". CONDITION: Receiver retains virtually all of its reapplied blue finish, showing some small nicks and some light wear from rotation of the takedown pin. Gray components retain the majority of their reapplied finish, showing some nicks, dings, and areas of pitting beneath the finish. Excellent bright bore, retaining well defined lands and grooves throughout. Stock is good as sanded and refinished, showing some scattered impressions and handling marks. A nice example of a fully transferable Russian DP-28 machine gun that was used heavily by Russia and its allies armed forces. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4. MLW
CORRECTION: Interior of receiver is not welded.
