Manufactured 1918. Half moon front sight, U notch flat top rear sight. Left side of slide with 2 line 2 block patent and address information, with uncircled pony at rear. Right side of slide with "MODEL OF 1911. U.S. ARMY". Inside of slide with various subinspector proofs. Barrel with "P/H" oriented to read with muzzle up. Left lug stamped "K" and barrel pin has been staked. Top of frame stamped "H", "D", and "G" near disconnector hole. Left side of dust cover marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY", left side of frame with JMG proof for Gilbert. Right side of frame with serial number. Small parts comprise checkered spurred hammer, thick tab checkered safety with milled undercut, checkered slide release with milled undercut, long smooth trigger, checkered magazine release, short 1911 grip safety, smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Truncated diamond walnut grips. 2 tone magazine. CONDITION: Very fine, retaining virtually all of the factory blue finish, with some extremely light marks from handling and storage. There are a few small spots of age patination primarily visible on left side of top of slide and near JMG proof. One unusual scratch on right side of slide above stirrup cut. Action works appropriately when gently cycled by hand, bore is excellent with strong rifling and some frosting and edges of grooves. Grip straps mixing with some browning from hand wear. This is a top tier example. EMW
