Late model Henry rifle, serial number 12857. 24" barrel in .44 Henry Rimfire with adjustable leaf rear sight and German silver blade front. Plain walnut stock with sling swivel mounted to left side and brass rifle buttplate featuring storage compartment with late 4-piece steel cleaning rod. Matching serial numbers observed on upper tang of stock, inside of buttplate, and lower tang of action. "282" assembly number observed on barrel and loading gate. Letter "W" stamped on bottom tang. CONDITION: Very good, with barrel turned a brown-grey patina overall with scattered age-related light pitting throughout. Frame retains a pleasing mustard patina. Stock is slightly shy to metal as sanded with finish added with scattered light handling marks but no visible cracks. Lower buttplate screw does not fit well and is proud to buttplate. Action is tight and crisp. Bore is frosted with sharp rifling and light abrasion throughout. A nice condition late model Henry rifle with correct features ready for display. TON
