Percussion plains type muzzleloadng rifle built by Joseph Craig in Weaverville, California circa 1870. 34" browned .52 caliber octagon rifled barrel with German Silver Rocky Mountain front sight with blacksmith made rear notch sight with extra dovetail with the number "14" stamped in it, marked "J.CRAIG/CAL". Unmarked percussion lock controlled by German silver plated double set triggers. Walnut half stock with cheekpiece with German silver hardware, pewter nosecap, and brass California Golden Bear inlay. CONDITION: Metal has faded to a nice even brown with light edge wear. Wood has traces of original finish with light handling marks. Gun appears to have been well taken care of. Dark pitted bore with triggers not holding cock. DLM
