Percussion Plains muzzleloading half stock rifle built in San Francisco, California by John Christian Erhart Klepzig circa 1860. 30 -1/2" octagon browned .50 caliber barrel with Klepzig Triangular Gain twist rifling, sheared front sight, Rocky Mountain rear notch sight, patent breech and marked "KLEPZIG & CO/SAN FRANSCISCO" and lead filled rear extra dovetail. Percussion lock marked "KLEPZIG & CO." controlled by double set trigger. Walnut checkered half stock with cheekpiece, iron patchbox, pewter nosecap, and German Silver hardware. CONDITION: Metal has turned a dark brown patina with steel patchbox having been cleaned. Stock has been lightly cleaned with traces of original varnish with hole worn through ramrod channel. Dark bore with good mechanics. DLM
