US M1822/28 Flintlock Musket manufactured by Springfield Armory in 1836. 42" round barrel in .69 caliber smoothbore with no provision for rear sight and integral brass blade front sight on Charleville style front barrel band. Barrel is marked "P" / (Eagle's head) / V" on left side and is dated 1837 near breech. 1 piece walnut stock in 3 barrel band musket configuration complete with US marked military buttplate. Stock cartouche ovals are visible on left side of stock opposite lock but are illegible. CONDITION: Very good, with barrel turned a brown gray patina with age related light freckling throughout. Stock is good as cleaned with heavy handling marks throughout. Action is extremely tight, with crisp stops at half and full cock. Bore is dark. TON
