Smith & Wesson Model 1 1st issue fifth type single action revolver with case. Made as a 5th type circa 1857-1860. "SMITH & WESSON. SPRINGFIELD. MASS" marked on the barrel rib. Patent date on the cylinder. 7 shot non-fluted cylinder. Octagon barrel with blade front sight. Square butt frame. Blued barrel, trigger, and cylinder. Silver plated brass frame. Smooth finish rosewood grips. Includes scarce original gutta percha case. Molded scroll embellishments on the outside, with a picture of the gun and the company address. Velvet interior with cartridge holder and 14 period unmarked .22 short cartridges. Cleaning brush is also included. CONDITION: Metal retains 75% of its original finishes with general wear and some graying patina forming. Grips are excellent. Hammer is tight. Mechanically fine. Case is very good overall with light wear. No signs of chips or cracks. Interior has some light fading and tears. Cartridges show signs of corrosion. JWA
