Smith & Wesson .38 Double Action 3rd model revolver with box. Made early 1890s. Standard 2 line company address and patent dates on the barrel rib. Matching serials on the butt, cylinder, barrel lug, and barrel catch. Round, barrel with half moon pinned front sight and v-notch rear. Factory nickel finish on the metal components. Round, butt frame. Trigger guard is correctly blued, with the hammer and trigger case colored. Later production checkered hard plastic, with an orange/brown fused look. Grips have been numbered to the gun. Includes an Smith & Wesson Model 24 blue flat board box. CONDITION: Metal retains 90% of its original finish with a few splotches of surface rust on the cylinder. Grips are excellent. Bore has a few minor pits. Very good overall rifling. Tight hammer and cylinder. Good lockup and timing. Mechanically fine. Box has edge wear and a torn corner. JWA
