Storekeepers Model single action revolver chambered in .44-40 W.C.F. manufactured by Colt in 1887. Left side of barrel bears a "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" etched panel, with the top bearing Colt's 2-line address. Left side of frame bears stampings stipulating the patent information. Features include a nickel finish, 4" barrel, standard Single Action Army pattern front and rear sights, as well as 2-piece smooth wood grips. Matching numbers are present on the frame, trigger guard, and butt. Accompanying this revolver is a Colt factory letter indicating that this Storekeepers Model featured a 4" barrel chambered in .44-40, nickel finish, as well as 2-piece wood stocks, and was shipped to Simmons Hardware Company in St. Louis, MO on May 13th of 1889 in a shipment of 20 revolvers. Also included is a signed letter and invoice from the gunsmith, Alan B. Harton, who also indicates the extensive amount of work provided to restore this piece, including fabricating a new barrel from a proper blank, restoration of the lettering, welding of of the trigger guard, backstrap edges and holes, and more. CONDITION: Metal components retain bountiful amounts of their professionally reapplied nickel finish, exhibiting some light superficial handling marks overall. Cylinder bears a light dragline, but is otherwise fine. Bright bore, exhibiting well defined lands and grooves throughout. Grips are very good, showing some light marks from handling and storage, but otherwise are sturdy and serviceable. An exceptionally attractive Colt Shopkeepers revolver restored by Alan Harton. MLW
