Circa 1927. A nice 20 gauge game gun with 28" blued dovetail barrels. Barrels are furnished with 2 - 5/8" chambers, extractor, concave tapered machined game rib with extension. Bottoms of barrels read "BEST FLUID STEEL". The barrels are fit with brass front and middle beads. Choked: left is Improved Cylinder and right is Skeet. Barrel flats read "448822" for serial number. Muted case colored boxlock action with third fastener, double triggers, cocking Indicators, serrated safe slide, and "S" is engraved just ahead of slide. Gun is auto-safe. Action is engraved with scrolls of game scenes of a woodcock in field, quail in field, and flying duck over pond at bottom with scrolls surrounding. "ITHACA GUN CO." engraved on left and "ITHACA, N.Y" on right. Double triggers are protected by a scroll engraved guard which extends to a short bottom tang. Tang is engraved "448 822" for serial number. Water table stamped with guns serial number and with "3" over "20". 2-panel checkered smokey walnut stock with fancy sharp checkered pistol grip has a black plastic grip cap and finished by a black plastic serrated plate. Splinter forend with finely checkered, decorated grip is also fitted with ebony tip and Deeley styled latch release. Latch release and iron metal are lightly engraved. Interior iron metal is case colored and marked with "448822" and "3". CONDITION: Good. The barrels have 75% blue remaining with silvering at both muzzles and breech ends. There is a small ding in the left barrel with freckling starting on the left barrel. Barrels with evidence of slightly being off face. The action retains a patina case color finish with protected areas (under top lever) showing more color. The stock appears to be a re-stock with a sliver of wood absent on the left side of the top tang. Light handling and storage marks on both buttstock and forend. Action is sound, the triggers are crisp and extractors function well. A nice game gun. CP
