Measures 20 - 5/16" from tip of kissaki to munemachi. Traditional shinogi zukuri form with a medium sori and chu-kissaki. Somewhat steep iori mune and a low shinogi. Ubu nakago with single mekugi-ana, punched, with kurijiri nakagojiri. Blade is out of polish and hada is invisible, but hamon looks like it might be gunome or midare when rolled in the light. Signed on both sides with softness from age; attached note states that signature is Ishido Hachizaemon Jo Saku Kore. Comparing with other Hachizaemon signatures, this seems largely correct. Other side heavily faded and illegible. Gilt copper catscrach habaki. Tsuba with simple geometrics. Fuchi with single shakudo star. Dragon form menuki. Kashira a later crude replacement. Plain blade roiro scabbard with kozuka, decorated with a dragon amongst the clouds. CONDITION: Blade is out of polish with surface scratches and some fine spots of oxidation. Mounts have an even oxidation with some rubs to highlights. Fuchi and kashira are probably replacements as they do not match the dragon theme. Saya is good with some light marks from handling. EMW
