Standard configuration Black Widow P.08 Luger manufactured by Mauser during World War II for sales to the German military. The receiver bears "41" over the chamber, indicating manufacture in 1941, with Mauser eagle over "655" and "135" waffenamts followed by a firing proof on the right-hand side. Toggle bears Mauser's "byf" manufacturer code. Additional eagle firing proofs are present on the right side of the barrel and left side of the breechblock. 2-piece checkered black plastic grips and magazine bottom are comprised of black plastic. All numbers are matching, with the exception of the grips and magazine bottom, which are properly unnumbered. Frame has been renumbered at one point in time to match. Metal components have been pleasantly reblued at one point in time. This already desirable example is accompanied by a "dtu.41" marked holster manufactured by G.J. Entsink in 1941, eagle over "655" marked loading tool, one additional blued "FXO" marked magazine with black plastic bottom, as well capture paperwork dated January 18th, 1946, indicating capture by Major Harvey S. Holt Jr. CONDITION: Metal components retain bountiful amounts of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting some small areas of wear that show through to silvering. Mauser waffenamts on right side of receiver are soft. Mirror bore, exhibiting some light oxidation throughout. Grips show some light smoothing the diamonds but are otherwise sturdy and serviceable. Holster is very good, showing some scattered handling marks and age-related wear but is otherwise fine. A very nice and attractive Mauser Black Widow P.08 Luger for the discerning Luger collector.
