3rd Model short rifle manufactured circa 1886. At some point in the twentieth century it appears rifle was rebarreled and reworked by the factory, bearing Winchester proofs on both the barrel and receiver, in addition to a restamped serial number. Blued 20" round barrel chambered in .32 WCF with 2-line Winchester address on left side. Sporting sights. Button magazine tube. Plain walnut forend and stock with steel crescent rifle butt. CONDITION: Fine as modified. Frame retains portions of factory blue, especially in protected areas with overall brown patina. Barrel and forend cap retain significantly more factory applied blued finish, showing only light wear and handling marks. Stocks appear to have been lightly cleaned with no signs of major distress. Very fine bright bore. Crisp mechanics with internals appearing to be factory rebuilt. Lever spur and catch removed, with hole filled in. This rifle would make a very fine shooter. BAS
