Savage Model 99 lever action rifle. Made 1905. 2 line company address and patent dates on the barrel. "SAVAGE HI-PRESSURE STEEL/MODEL 1899." Marked on the left side of the barrel. "SAV.303" marked on the chamber. Octagon barrel with silver blade front sight and buck horn v-notch rear. Metal has been reblued at some point. Receiver has been drilled for scope blocks, and is also drilled for a tang sight. Straight grip wood stock and forearm have been nicely sanded and refinished. Serrated metal butt plate. CONDITION: Metal retains 85% of its reapplied finish with light wear and handling marks. Wood has a few dings and scratches. Bore is frosted, but rifling is strong. Mechanically fine. JWA
