This rifle has been assembled using a combination of old and new components. The octagon barrel is marked towards the breech in block letters "1790: ANSTAT" with the "S" reversed. The lock is a well-aged reproduction. The patchbox is deeply engraved and has a lid with relief panel and a Lehigh County style finial. The buttplate is of the Bucks County style and when on its original rifle, the now lead-filled patchbox release button was on the tang. The triggerguard is also Bucks County in style terminating in the front with a thumbnail shape. There is a brass heart on the wrist and a crude eight-point brass star above the cheekpiece. The contemporary stock is of fine highly striped tiger maple and resembles the form found on Angstat rifles. CONDITION: Barrel has an applied brown finish, markings are crisp. Brass furniture retains a mostly brown mustard patina, sideplate is more polished. Lock retains a chemically aged grey surface. Stock has replaced wood around lock and some rectangular splinters along forend. Stock is green in color due to the chemical composition of the finish often used in the 1950s and 60s, which turned green over time. DMG
