No. 52 Schuetzen Junior single shot rifle made by the J. Stevens Arms & Tool Company, Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts serial number "764" which would indicate first year of manufacture of the new "44 -1/2" action introduced in 1903. Blued No. 3 weight part octagon barrel with matching action serial number, fitted with a folding beech combination front sight and no rear sight seat with correct Stevens markings on the top barrel flat, caliber "32-40". Barrel is fitted with Lyman "438" telescope with early Lyman 4-point micrometer adjustable mounts with fine target crosshair. Case hardened 44-1/2 action with nearly full coverage of Stevens scroll engraving. Pistol grip action with Schuetzen double set triggers, 4-finger loop lever, and a Stevens rear tang sight. Checkered walnut pistol grip Model 52 Schuetzen stock with cheekpiece and correct Model 52 buttplate. Matching checkered 2-screw forearm. CONDITION: 90% original barrel blue with some light edge wear. 30% faded case colors remaining. Wood has 90% original finish with some scratches and dings. Perfect bore showing light shooting wear and good mechanics with scope needing outside lenses cleaned. Description reviewed by Gary Quinlan. DLM/GWQ
