Lot consist of: (A) Smith & Wesson Safety Hammerless Fifth Model double action revolver. Formally called the "New Departure" and sometimes jokingly the "Lemon Squeezer". Made circa 1908. Barrel rib marked "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS. U.S.A." in between a pair of Maltese crosses. Trademark on the right side of the frame. Matching serials on the butt, cylinder and barrel catch. Round butt frame. 5 shot cylinder. Half moon blade front sight with U-notch rear. Factory nickel finish on the barrel and frame. Case colored trigger. Checkered hard rubber grips with "S&W" monograms. Includes period red flat board box. Box has the correct end tab, not serialized, but marked marked "NICKEL". CONDITION: Metal retains 90% of its original finish with light scratches and wear. Grips are excellent with a few scratches. Bore is lightly frosted with very good overall rifling. Tight cylinder. Mechanically fine. Box is fair with edge wear and deterioration. (B) Smith & Wesson First Model single action revolver. Often referred to as the "Baby Russian". Made 1876-77. Top of the barrel rib is marked "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS. U.S.A. PAT'D JAN.17&24.65/JULY 11.65. AUG. 24.69. JAN.19.1875.REISSUE 25. 1871". Matching serials on the butt, cylinder, barrel catch and lug. 5 shot fluted cylinder. Round butt grip. Half moon front sight with u-notch rear. Factory nickel finish with case colored trigger and hammer. Checkered brown hard rubber grips marked "S&W' on the top of each. CONDITION: Metal retains 70% of its original finish with wear and handling marks. Grips are very good with a few handling marks. Frosted bore with a few minor pits. Good rifling overall. Tight hammer and cylinder. Mechanically fine. JWA
