Manufactured 1918. Half moon front sight, U notch flat top rear sight. Left side of slide with 2 line 2 block patent and address information with intercepting rampant Colt; right side of slide with "MODEL OF 1911. U.S. ARMY". "H" stamped at top of firing pin retaining plate channel, slightly offset. Barrel with "P / H" stamped to be read with muzzle up, "5" stamped in front of lug. Left side of dust cover marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" with "(Eagle Head) / S12" above magazine release. Right side of frame with serial number behind slide pin. Small parts comprise checkered spurred hammer, relief mill cut slide rlease, checkered safety with thick tab, checkered magazine release, long smooth milled trigger, short 1911 grip safety, smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Truncated diamond checkered walnut stocks. 2 tone magazine with dual pinned base and lanyard loop. CONDITION: Good, retaining approximately half of the blue. Slide is essentially brown patina with some flashes of bluing visible, with legends still crisp. Frame is very good with plentiful bluing on sides, and some minor browning coming through on straps and a few scattered freckles and handling marks, with crisp legends that have nicely visible distension from stamp. Some normal silver to reciprocating areas. Magazine has been coated with some kind of preservative and that rendered the whole magazine a blue-brown color with a film. Mechanically fine, bore is very good with visible rifling and even frosting throughout. EMW
