Signed lower left: Charles Partridge Adams". Charles Adams moved to Colorado in 1876 and became captivated by the landscape. Adams was largely self-taught and highly influenced by his studies of the work of George Inness. Painting throughout the West, Adams developed a style that was impressionistic and focused on the effects of changing light. Two hallmarks of Adams style are a mountain peak with a valley view and his distinctive application of paint.
