Remington 6-shot revolving rifle originally made in percussion and converted by the factory to .38 rimfire. Made by E. Remington & Sons from 1866-1879 with less than 1,000 made. Scarce 26" blued full octagon rifled barrel with German silver blade front sight and notched rear adjustable sight with no markings other than serial number "518" on underside of barrel and "518" on cylinder axle. Blued finish unmarked frame with 6-shot cylinder numbered "230" with factory conversion plate numbered "230" and "518" which matches gun. Rifle has nickel-plated "S" loop trigger guard and nickel-plated crescent buttplate. Matching Walnut plain wood stock numbered "518". Great original factory conversion. CONDITION: Metal has faded to a plum patina with some slight surface corrosion. Nickel parts retain 90% original nickel with some handling wear and some small areas of flaking. 90% original varnish with usage dings and marks. Pitted bore with visible rifling. Good crisp mechanics. A nice example. DLM
