Russian M44 bolt action carbine manufactured at the Izhevsk arsenal in 1945. Receiver is stamped with the Soviet Union hammer and sickle emblem over "1945r", the serial number, as well as the Izhevsk arsenal symbol. Features include a blue finish, 20 - 1/2" barrel, side-folding bayonet, as well as a 1-piece wood stock & upper handguard. Matching numbers are present on the receiver, bolt, and buttplate. The family states that this rifle was captured and presented to Major General Henry Kellogg during the Korean War. CONDITION: Metal components retain good amounts of their arsenal blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that show through to brown and gray patinas overall. Very bright bore, exhibiting some very light oxidation throughout. Stock is very good, exhibiting few handling marks overall. A nice Russian M44 carbine attributed to Major General Henry Kellogg. MLW
