Circa 1960. A 16 gauge sidelock with demi-bloc 28" Bohler blued steel nitro proof barrels. Barrels are fit with 2 - 3/4" chambers, ejectors and a machined filed rib. Rib fit with a white round front sight. Chokes are Full and Modified. Top barrel reads "GEBRUDER MERKEL SUHL" near breech. Barrels also fit with a three piece splinter forend with scroll engraved brushed steel Deeley styled release and sling swivel. The brushed gray patina steel sidelock bolstered action has been built with double triggers (front articulated), Kersten lock up mechanism, cocking indicators and is non-auto safe. Action and hardware are nicely engraved with full coverage scroll and fit with a blued Holland & Holland styled hand detachment lever. The dark nicely figured European walnut stock with cheekpiece, 2 panel fine checkered pistol hand grip with black plastic grip cap, sling swivel is finished by a checkered hard rubber butt plate. Length of pull to center is 14 - 1/2". Matched colored forend also with fine checkering and brushed steel hardware. CONDITION: Very Fine. Barrels with bright bores and retain mostly all of their original blue. Action is tight and sound. Triggers are crisp and ejectors are in time. Stock and forend both very good with very light handling marks. Nice gun. CP
