Winchester Model 1866 saddle ring carbine. Made 1891. 2 line company address/patent dates on the top of the barrel. Serial number on the bottom of the tang. Round, steel barrel with blade front sight behind the front band. Period rear ladder sight, not looking to be factory. Full length magazine tube. Brass frame, with the lever being case colored. Barrel and bands have their original blued finish. Oil finished wood stock and forearm. Crescent metal butt plate with trap door. CONDITION: Metal retains little of its original finish with the barrel forming a brownish/gray patina. Frame has some light tarnish. Wood has handling marks and scratches. Forearm is solid with no visible cracks. Bore has a few minor pits with good overall rifling. Mechanically fine. JWA
