December 14-17, 2021 Collectible Firearms & Militaria
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/17/2021
Lot consists of a complete set of 4 Colt commemorative pistols memorializing 4 battles from World War I: Belleau Wood, Meuse-Argonne, The 2nd Battle of the Marne, and Chateau Thierry. All pistols are in their correct configurations with roll marked slides and appropriate grips. Additionally, each gun is accompanied by their correct presentation case and shipping boxes and all have matching "6055" partial serial. Three boxes (all except for Chateau Thierry) also retain their original shipping labels from Colt indicating shipment to Bob T Blakeman, Western Auto Association Store, Greensburg, Kentucky. Finding a complete set can be difficult, but finding them with 3 original shipping labels being sent to the same location is extraordinary. CONDITION: Pistols are all excellent and retain virtually all of their factory finishes with a few very minor marks from handling and storage; it appears as though all except Chateau Thierry have never been mounted in their cases as the leather strips are in excellent condition instead of being desiccated. Mechanically fine, bores are excellent with strong rifling. Breech faces are very clean; it is distinctly possible pistols were test fired only. Cases are excellent with extremely light marks from manufacture and transport. Pistol box on (D) has separation on edges. This is an exceptional opportunity to acquire a complete set of matching guns. EW
