A beautiful and early leaded glass dragonfly table lamp by Tiffany Studios. The 16” diameter shade with a background of beautiful ripple glass. The glass almost completely transparent near the aperture, becomes increasingly streaked with blues and greens, moving down towards the rim. This transparent glass is consistent with the early Tiffany shades intended for the low light of oil lamps. A series of dragonflies adorn the lower third of the shade, with pink and white streaked wings, blue bodes, and magenta eyes. The lower border is finished with geometric rows of teal glass. The shade has a prominent rattle, consistent with its age. Shade is authentic and in very good condition, with no loose or missing glass, with scattered heat cracks commensurate with age. The shade sits on a patinated bronze Tiffany Studios decorated library base. The three-socket base is finished in a red-brown patina. The underside is signed “Tiffany Studios New York 261” and has the TGDCO logo. Base is in excellent condition with no cracks or dents, and original patina has been well preserved. There is a small circular hole in the ball cluster, which appears to be original and may have been used for the original cord.
