Exceptional Type 14 Nambu pistol manufactured at the Koishikawa arsenal in October of 1929. The left side of the frame bear kanji characters denoting the model designation, with the right bearing the arsenal symbol and serial number above the date code "4.10". Major metal components are blued, with some smaller components being strawed. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved wood grips. All numbers are matching, including the magazine, with the exception of the firing pin and cocking knob, which are unnumbered. This example is accompanied by an original matching clamshell holster fitted with a leather shoulder strap that contains a cleaning rod and an additional firing pin. Interior of flap bears a period-applied label that bears a matching number to the pistol above kanji characters. CONDITION: Excellent, with metal components retaining bountiful amounts of their original arsenal blue finish, showing few and minor areas of wear overall as well as some extremely light freckling on the grip straps. Strawed components show varying degrees of wear but are for the most part very good. Mirror bore, exhibiting strong rifling throughout. Grips are excellent. Holster is ensuite, showing minimal wear and handling marks overall. A truly exceptional example of a early production Type 14 Nambu pistol, that even the discerning collector would find to be a difficult example to upgrade from. MLW
