An early fixed globe engine lantern of unknown manufacture; likely Canadian. "GTR" nicely embossed in oval panel on solid red "gold salt ruby" globe; its not flashed. Depth of red color is darker than usually seen with solid red glass of this vintage. Globe shows many swirls and straw marks and is bedded in old plaster. Lantern retains much original Japanning corrosion protection and shows bright tin plating underneath. This is a very early Grand Trunk lantern in original condition.
