MP-40 manufactured at the Steyr arsenal in 1943 and later registered by Charles Erb. Lower assembly is stamped "MP40 / bnz.43" over the serial number, with 2 "(Eagle) / 623" waffenamts present on the left side. Receiver and front sight assembly bear additional Steyr "(Eagle) /623" waffenamts. Barrel collar, bolt, and telescoping mainspring bear a C.G. Haenel "(Eagle) / 37" waffenamts. Lower left side of the receiver tube bears a Charles Erb bullet logo. Matching numbers are present on the lower assembly, receiver, barrel collar, barrel, and front sight hood, with the receiver having been numbered to match at one point in time. Bolt and telescoping mainspring do not match but match one another. This example is accompanied by 9 spare 32-round magazines, "ghn 40 / MP.38u.40" marked magazine loader, as well as a period leather sling. CONDITION: Metal components retain large amounts of their original blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning overall that show through to brown and grey patinas. Bore is bright and exhibits well-defined rifling throughout. Bakelite furniture shows some wear and handling marks but is otherwise fine. Leather sling shows some crazing overall but otherwise appears sturdy and serviceable. A nice range-ready example of an iconic German World War II submachine gun. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4. MLW
