This sword was illustrated in the April 1957 edition of the magazine "The American Arms Collector" as part of the Colonel Robert F. Wheeler Collection. Slightly curved single edge blade with single fuller towards top on both sides. Brass "D" guard with forward-facing quillon. Spiraling cast brass grip. Chased smiling lion pommel of brass. CONDITION: Blade has been polished and sharpened, showing some darker areas and scattered pitting. Hilt retains a mustard patina. Chip missing at tip of capstan and there is a vacant hole on right side of Lion's head, probably drilled to hang the sword. PROVENANCE: Tom Grinslade Collection, Ex. Robert Wheeler. DMG
