Super example of a nineteenth century hunting or game bag with 2 secondary fringed openwork macrame sections often associated with hunting waterfowl and game birds. Soft tooled leather main bag with shoulder strap adjusted by brass frame buckle. Main bag with button fastened flap, 2 small and 1 large interior pockets. 2 macrame panels attached by leather bands at top stitched to main shoulder bag forming 2 pockets, the inner panel finely done, the outer one more openwork with its upper leather edge secured by buckle to main bag and finer knotted work in 2 bands at bottom with fringe. CONDITION: Very good with some breaks to strands of the outer macrame panel, not very noticeable when seen against the inner panel, and some reattachment of strands to the leather top band with modern string. A very scarce accouterment showing elaborate workmanship.
