Lot consists of 2 Civil War U.S. issue canteens. (A) Very scarce early war canteen with rubberized cover and strap. CONDITION: Very good. Minor wear to the surface from use and losses to rubber coating of strap from flexing, but no holes to cover. Strap has period knot tied over break, small tears. Stopper missing. (B) New York Depot pattern with stopper, chain, cloth strap, and cover in place. CONDITION: Very good. One side with hole to cover at center. The other with small hole at bottom. Smaller holes near upper bracket. Cover is light brown. Folded cloth strap original and complete. Minor stains. Both are regulation issue. The rubberized cover and strap is extremely scarce in any condition.
