US Model 1863 Springfield made at Springfield Armory in 1864. 40" rifled .58 caliber barrel with 3 iron barrel bands, iron nosecap, pinned front sight, and correct model 1858 rear 2-blade flip sight. Barrel marked with "V", "P" and Eagle proof, and Eagle marked bolster. Percussion lock with "(Eagle) / U.S. SPRINGFIELD" markings and dated 1864. Walnut full military with iron hardware with several owners' names scratched in stock with original steel ramrod. PROVENANCE: Rich Guckes Collection. CONDITION: Metal parts worn to a nice silvery patina with some light corrosion. Wood lightly cleaned with usage marks and dings. Dark bore with good mechanics. DLM
