Framed Third Reich Waffen SS Recruitment Poster for the 1st SS Leibstandarte Panzer Division. The poster depicts 2 camouflaged Waffen-SS soldiers armed and ready for combat. The poster reads “Auch du zur Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler - Eintritt mit Vollendetem 17. Lebensjahr” which roughly translates to “Also you for the Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler - Entry when 17 years of age”. The poster draws on the German youths' intrigue and desire for adventure and to be a part of a “heroic” and elite German combat unit. The poster cannot be removed from its frame, as it was professionally mounted and sealed. The poster appears to be made of a wood pulp fiber paper, with black ink screening. Areas of light creases can be seen throughout, to note is that the poster does not appear to have ever been folded. The blacks and whites used for the printing remain vibrant throughout. A small logo can be seen in the lower right corner. CONDITION: Excellent to near mint. DMW
