Framed Third Reich Waffen SS recruitment poster. The poster depicts a seasoned Waffen SS "Scharfuehrer" (Squad Leader) in a camouflage pullover smock and helmet cover, pointing his finger at the viewer. The poster reads “Dich Ruft Die Waffen SS” which translates to “The Waffen SS Calls You”. The poster draws on the German youths intrigue and desire for adventure and to be a part of a “heroic” and elite German combat branch. Listed on the bottom is the information as to where a potential recruit can enlist in the Waffen SS in the Braunschweig district. The poster cannot be removed from its frame, as it was professionally mounted and sealed. The poster appears to be made of a wood pulp fiber paper, with black ink screening over the multicolor printed base. The various colors used for the printing remain vibrant throughout. The poster was folded twice (4 sections) for some time, as moderate creases are present. A small logo can be seen in the lower right corner, as well as "ANTON" in the upper left.
