P.38 chambered in .22 LR manufactured by Walther in 1974. The left side of the slide is stamped with the Walther banner logo over "Made in W. Germany" followed by stampings stipulating the manufacturer information, as well as the model and caliber designations. Right side bears the serial number followed by an Interarms import stamp. Left side of trigger bow is stamped with the year of manufacture "74" followed by an Ulm proof house stamp over a post-War German "(Eagle) / N" commercial nitro proof. Frame exhibits a black enamel finish, with the slide barrel, and some other small parts and components exhibiting a phosphate finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered walnut grips. This example is accompanied by it's matching factory box, containing a matching factory test target, original manual, a page from Guns & Ammo's February 1976 article on the Rimfire P.38, as well as a cleaning rod and spare magazine. CONDITION: Excellent, with metal components retaining virtually all of their original factory applied finish, exhibiting few minor superficial marks from handling and storage overall. Mirror bore, exhibiting sharp rifling throughout. Grips are excellent. Box shows taped repairs at the corners and moderate external wear, but is otherwise sturdy and serviceable. MLW
