The Ingram M6, designed by notable firearms designer Gordon B. Ingram, was produced as an inexpensive and easy produce submachine gun, manufactured with the intention for police usage. Produced by Police Ordnance Company between 1949-1954, totaling 2,000 produced within the United States, largely owing to their rarity today. The case for the M6 is strongly resembles Harrington & Richardson's Reising Model 50 case, and is even more scarce than the submachine gun, with only a total of 20 examples produced. This example features a black finish on the exterior, with the latches, corner tabs, as well as the rivets exhibiting a nickeled finish, with the handling being comprised of leather. Interior features a blue fabric lining, with provisions for 2 magazines as well as a cleaning rod. CONDITION: Exterior retains the majority of its black finish, exhibiting some scattered marks from handling and storage overall, with some areas of flaking to the paint on the brass band. Nickel plated components exhibit some losses and light oxidation, but are otherwise very good overall. Leather handle is very good. Interior shows some minor wear and some small losses to the fabric, with some of the wood magazine slot divider having come loose on one side. Bottom leather strap button on interior of lid has come out. A nice example of an extremely rare Police Ordnance Company M6 submachine gun case. MLW
