New Navy double action revolver manufactured by Colt in 1902. Left side of barrel is stamped "COLT. D.A. 38", with Colt's 2-line address across the top. Bottom of butt is stamped "U.S.N" above an anchor with "No / 13 / 022 / J.A.B." below. Major metal components are blued, with some smaller components being nitre blued. Features include a 6" barrel, half-moon front sight, frame notched rear sight, as well as 2-piece brown Colt checkered hard rubber grips. Matching assembly numbers are present on the frame, cylinder crane, and cylinder release latch, with the grips matching via a hand-scribed number on their interiors. Revolver is accompanied by a factory letter listing number "13022" under Special Features, and indicates that it was shipped to "United States Government / General Storekeeper / Navy Yard / Brooklyn, New York" in a shipment of 250 guns on October 15th, 1902. CONDITION: Metal components retain large amounts of their original factory applied blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning overall that show through to pleasant gray and brown patinas. Mirror bore, exhibiting well defined rifling throughout. Grips show some smoothing and a few marks from handling and storage overall, but are otherwise fine. MLW
