Zenith 8-Day US Navy ship's chronometer cased and gimballed deck watch/clock. #202239, converted from 6 jewels to 15 jewels to meet US Navy specifications by Vail Watch Co. in Chicago during the later part of World War I. Movement marked "Zenith, Swiss, 202239, 8 Days, 15 Jewels, Three-3-Adj., Vail Watch Co., USA". Running. Cased in an attractive blue felt lined mahogany travel case. CONDITION: Brass components exhibit a pleasing patina with scattered areas of tarnishing. Glass is clear with no cracks or chips. Case exhibits scratches and typical handling wear. Verdigris on brass case components. Overall very good. JLD
