Police Positive double action revolver manufactured by Colt in 1917. The left side of the barrel is stamped "POLICE / POSITIVE" followed by the caliber designation, with Colt's address and patent information across the top. Left side of frame bears the Rampant Colt logo and "VP" proof. Rear grip strap is engraved "DETROIT POLICE", with "NO. 1917" stamped on the butt. Metal components are nickel plated, with the frame being mounted with 2-piece checkered hard rubber grips, embellished with "COLT" within an oval at the top of either panel. Grips appear to be reproduction. CONDITION: Metal components retain bountiful amounts of their nickel finish, exhibiting few minor losses overall, with the exception of the forward cylinder face, which exhibits some areas of loss. Very bright bore, exhibiting some areas of inactive oxidation and retaining good rifling throughout. Grips show some small molding flaws overall, with the right grip panel exhibiting a crack on the interior. A very attractive Detroit Police issued Colt Police Positive revolver. MLW
