Lot consists of three Civil War tintypes. (A) 9th plate. A young drummer, in uniform, holding drumsticks and leaning on a full-size drum and thus likely a real drummer rather child playing. Wearing open light color tunic with 8 buttons on each lapel, closed at top by a tab. Dark colored cuffs and trousers; red tinted shoulder straps, a typical addition to uniforms of bandsmen paid for by a regimental fund. CONDITION: Very good. Nice clarity and tones. Some light scratches. With patriotic mat, but not cased. (B) 9th plate, seated soldier in fatigue blouse holding a pocket revolver across his lower chest. CONDITION: Very good. Nice tones and clarity. Some spotting to emulsion at top and sides, not affecting figure. Thermoplastic floral case in good condition with mat, glass, frame, and facing pad. (C) 6th plate in leatherette case. 3/4 length seated in fatigue blouse. Portions of the painted backdrop visible showing cannon and flag at left, soldier at right. Belt plate gilt. CONDITION: Good. Slightly light, but clear. Shallow bend visible at some angles, but no finish loss. Case separated at hinge.
