Lot consists of 3 leather accouterments in excellent condition. (A) Civil War 1864 pattern infantry .58 caliber cartridge box, complete with all buckles, straps, loops, and magazine tins in place, nicely marked by Crossman, maker, and Jones, US Ordnance subinspector, on outer flap. CONDITION: Excellent. Very good finish with nice brown tones and just minor scuffs and crazing at top from flexing. (B) Civil War infantry waist belt with cap box. Complete with brass keeper and oval US arrowback plate with flat, correct, hook. Cap box with Nece and Sniffen maker and inspector cartouches. CONDITION: Excellent. Visible, but faint, maker and inspector cartouches on belt, crisp on cap box. Cap box with remnants of fleece, no pick. Flaking to belt loops from flexing. Nice finish and tones. (C) Indian War Dyer cartridge pouch for the .45-70. CONDITION: Excellent. Smooth black finish with very legible Rock Island Arsenal stamp on upper reverse. US and inspector initials on belt loops. No fleece. A nice group of 1800s US leather gear in much better condition than commonly found. PROVENANCE: Roger Bender Collection.
