Measures approximately 24 - 11/16" from tip of kissaki to munemachi. Traditional shinogi zukuri form with low shinogi, iconic tight pointed gunome oil quenched hamon. Habaki with vertical striations. Nakago with ha agari nakagojiri, mumei, katte sagari yasurime. Military shin gunto mounts, saya with koijiri, koiguchi, semegane, and Army style single hanger with double strap in the classic floral-on-roe decoration. Standard tsuba with florals at 4 corners. Thick seppa. Fuchi, kabuto-gane with floral-and-roe pattern. Tsuka in traditional woven pattern. Chrysanthemum menuki with rayskin same. CONDITION: Overall good. Blade with a visible hamon and some marks from handling and use throughout. Ha has a few chips approximately halfway up, and evidence of sharpening in the same area. Nakago with a small divot on the nakagojiri. Saya is good with some scrapes and handling marks. Furniture is good with some high edge rubs and marks throughout. Tsuka is very good, tight, with some unusual damage (fire?) on last weave near kabuto-gane. A good example. PROVENANCE: Roger Bender Collection. EMW
