Percussion Fullstock Kentucky rifle signed in script "G.F." for George Fay, who worked in Blair County and several locations in and around the Altoona, Pennsylvania area, circa 1850. Rifle has a 41 - 1/4" smoothbore .50 caliber octagonal barrel with German silver front sight, hunting notch rear sight, with script signature of G.F.. Gunsmith made percussion lock with lathe turned double set trigger. Full curly maple stock finished with black Huntingdon County style black piano finish, with brass hardware including an engraved 4-piece patchbox with 4 piercings, floral engraving, and "Turned Bird" finial with bone button release in toe. Rifle has 4 coin silver inlays including a Federal Eagle on the cheekpiece. Comes with original hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: Overall good with usage dings and marks and no visible restoration. Older section of wood missing in front of lock. Dark pitted bore with crisp mechanics.
