Only a few hundred were made in the early 1860s by the Union Knife Co. for inventor John Lindsay, whose interesting 2-shot firearms utilize superposed loads, allowing the user to fire 2 shots from one barrel without reloading, each shot fired by a separate hammer. This pocket size example features a 4" octagon barrel with half moon front sight and frame notch rear. Barrel is marked on the right side with correct 5-line maker mark within foliate scroll. Left side of barrel is engraved a patriotic panoply of flags between a lion and an eagle. The brass spur trigger frame is also engraved with a tiger on the right side and a buck deer on the left. Grips are smooth 2-piece walnut. CONDITION: Very good. Barrel exhibits a soft gray patina, with the frame displaying a very pleasing mellow mustard patina as well. Grips are good with some handling marks and a repaired split on each panel. Good bore and mechanics. BAS
