Green was serving aboard the USS Trumbull, one of the first frigates authorized in 1775 by the Continental Congress. Green was married to a relation of Miles, and Miles is requesting that Green be confined, lest he fall into the hands of the British which would mean certain death as he was a deserter from the British Army.
